Inclusive and responsive
Boys, girls, men and women are vulnerable to trafficking for different reasons and are affected in distinct ways, requiring targeted responses so as to protect every victim effectively. While anti-trafficking efforts increasingly recognize gender dimensions through policies and laws, OSCE research established that the application of gender-sensitive approaches remains incomplete and fragmented. Many gender aspects are overlooked in current prevention, protection and prosecution strategies.
The OSCE promotes comprehensive gender-sensitive approaches, addressing such root causes as violence against women and discrimination. Understanding these aspects is essential to identify at-risk groups, address intersecting vulnerabilities and tailor assistance. Through research, policy guidance and programmatic activities, the Office supports OSCE participating States in developing inclusive strategies that respond to every victim’s specific needs.
